The Japanese soy sauce industry is conducting global production at factories around the world. Its taste has been improved according to the food and cuisine of each country and region. They have changed strategies and organizations according to changes in the business environment such as maturity, shrinking and globalization of the market in Japan. As a result, Japanese soy sauce is consumed all over the world. The purpose of this research is to study the Japanese soy sauce industry as a business ecosystem and to consider its dynamic capability from the case of Japanese soy sauce manufacturer. Japan's soy sauce industry has been promoting horizontal division of labor as soon as it develops. Therefore, from the case analysis, we verify that Japanese soy sauce industry pursuing different taste of each region by horizontal division of labor is creating dynamic capability in globalization.

A research study of the R&D management from various kinds of focus and scope has been done for many years. Especially, it has been quite difficult to explain the research & development project status as a quantitative dynamic model. In the previous our study, we defined the R&D project as the dynamic model and estimated interactions among internal elements within the company. This interaction plays an important role to express the R&D project status. We applied this model to the specific business case and attempted to be expressed the state of the research and development process using the quantitative physical model as modified magnetic model. As the result of the model simulation, the modified magnetic model can distinguish the success and failure case. In this paper, from the in detail differential analysis of success case and failure case by the model simulation and the visualization of the R&D project status by the result of this differential analysis, the possibility of the feedback to the improvement points of the current research and development project are suggested. More attention should be paid to the fact that the interaction between the quantitative part and qualitative part within the R&D activity.

Regional industries of Japan are stalled with no way out, since their direction and position to take have not been clarified. However, the regeneration of regional industries should be proposed to dispel the sense of stagnation that exists throughout Japan. Regional regeneration have been discussed based on a wide variety of approaches including sociology, urban design theory, and community theory. Vet only a few attempts have been made so far at regional industrial regeneration taken by entrepreneurs. Therefore, this article attempts to compare and consider various cases of regional industrial regeneration entrepreneur's capabilities and qualifications. With respect to regional industrial regeneration entrepreneurs as innovator, this article proposes his/hers essential Capabilities and Qualifications. From the consideration, it was suggested that regional industry regeneration entrepreneur must have Capabilities and Qualifications to generate a disruptive innovation. From the comparative analysis of the four president as regional industry regeneration entrepreneur, "Transfer Output,' "Circulation Force," "Being a Stranger," "Events that pull the Trigger," "Associating," "Questioning," "Observing," "Networking," "Experimenting," "Entrepreneurial courage" and "Risk-taking" are suggested to be essential for the regional industrial regeneration entrepreneur as a hypothesis. In addition, it has been also suggested that the regional industrial regeneration is one of the disruptive innovation.

As for strategic theory, industry-university cooperation is defined as an essential core functionality of industrial clusters. Industry-university cooperation has been recognized as an important strategy to make innovation happen in an industrial society today. Industry-university cooperation to organize a team that functions organizationally with a fixed-term at a university and the company, and can be defined as a project to address a purpose and values different from the past. Therefore, all those who have an interest in industry-university cooperation must be self-transforming. However, the need for self-transformation of individuals has not been strongly recognized up until now. In industry-university cooperation, conflicts of interest often exist. Therefore, those individuals interested in industry-university cooperation are faced with a dilemma. The purpose of this study is to reveal differences in values of the individuals in the company and that of the academic individual that produce such dilemmas. On top of that, the promotion of industry-university cooperation, project management methodologies on elimination of dilemmas arising from the difference in values are considered. Recently, approximately 70% of universities in Japan have implemented internship programs. The original purpose of internship is to learn about an occupation, society, company operations, and the occupational aptitude of the student, through actual work experience at the work site. However, the points and the scale of effects of the internship depend on understanding, imagination, and the ability of each student to prepare for the experience. In addition the effects of the internship are dependent on the contents of the program prepared by the company. Since there are differences in the effects of internship depending on these conditions, some experts even have a doubt as to whether internship programs serve any real purpose or turn out to be more like a stroll in the park. The phrase, "not to see the forest for the trees," can be applied to the current internship system. This means that the conditions of the current internship system do not provide university students with role models for work, the workplace, and careers. These programs only expose the students to a small part of the work experience only for a short period of time. They really do not get the big picture. On the other hand, the job shadowing approach lets students accompany role models, like a shadow, which can embody the significance of company's existence, such as presidents and executives who are at the top of the organizational hierarchy. This experience enables the students to obtain perspectives concerning the big picture of the business organization. By doing so, the university students are likely to understand that president policies and judgments that are connected with actual work. In this way the student can clearly visualize an image of their role models and continuously pursue the creation of their own careers in a specific organization. We are confident that examining these things can foster a smooth transition from school-to-work.
In this paper, we propose that university students participating in job shadowing programs are able to draw experience from professional role models and deepen their understanding of the social significance of a company.
By conducting questionnaire surveys and case studies, we consider that the job shadowing system has greater advantages than that of the general internship types.

Dealing with a stakeholder's resistance is needed in a change project. However, it is difficult for the project persons concerned to expect the resistance to a stakeholder's change comprehensively and exactly. Therefore, it is effective to analyze the organization where the result of the project is introduced in a conception stage and a stakeholder by KPI definition. In the change of a strategy, a process, and an information system, we need the performance evaluation indicator of the new measure. In a change, a big change of KPI occurs inevitably. Therefore, I propose defining a stakeholder's KPI in the conception stage of a change project in this paper.

We analyzed the network structure surrounding an R&D project to explore external factors that contribute to the success or failure of a company’s R&D project. In considering the network structure, we considered a small-world network. The reason for this is that the small-world network is characterized by the following three points:
    1. The density of strings (chute) (which corresponds to the linear part of the network) is low.
    2. The average path length (the length of the shortest path between two possible points on the network = the average number of steps) is short.
    3. The connection between points is not complete. The three points can be summarized as follows.
In this paper, we take the lithium-ion rechargeable battery co-patent network as a case study to clarify how the R&D network changes over time and further discuss how the role of each node in the network becomes clearer.

Strategic behavior of companies in the industry is composed of two parts, homogenization and differentiation. Strategic behavior of the company builds the competitive environment of the industry especially. Although at the present time the simulation is still in an early concept stage, the authors created it by Multi-Agent System Simulation (MASS). The basic concept of the homogeneous behavior simulations is reported in order to obtain feedback from a variety of perspectives. In this thesis the attempt of the MASS suggests that how to mix homogeneous behavior and differentiation behavior for the competitor’s strategic behavior in the industry. In addition, the experiment confirmed the models influence on the competitive environment of an industry that is generated by differences of strategic behaviors. The experiment shows that a slight difference in strategic behavior of companies leads to a large difference in the competitive environment of the industry. Then, homogeneous behaviors in differentiation behavior also strengthen the homogeneous competitive environment of industry.

There are many problems that management must address in order to maintain the development of enterprises. Organizations need to accept changes brought about by solutions to problems, such as construction of new production facilities, development of new products, and introduction of computers. Typically, such changes are carried out within each unit of a project. However, adoption of new technologies is a requirement for all projects undertaken. Because of such attitudes as neutrality, skepticism, agreement and opposition projects members often find themselves facing the dilemma of whether to work for the benefit of the entire unit or for personal benefit. A change agent has to deal with the attitudes of project members. In order to understand how this situation can be dealt with, we performed a case study and simulation. Therefore, we considered the case of a cell production implementation project and developed a multi-agent simulation (MAS). © 2013 IEEE.

Strategic behavior of companies in the industry is composed of two parts, homogenization and differentiation. Strategic homogeneous behavior of the company builds the stabilized industry especially. Although at the present time the simulation is still in an early concept stage, we created it by multi-agent simulation (MAS). Basic concept of the homogeneous behavior simulations is reported in order to obtain feedback from a variety of perspectives. Then, in this paper the attempt of the MAS suggests that how to mix homogeneous behavior and differentiation behavior for the competitor's strategic behavior in industry. © 2013 The Authors.

One of the sources of dynamic capabilities is the flexibility of resource orchestration by hybrid intermediate organizations that are neither marketized nor in-housed. Toyota Motor Corporation has a system called TPD (Toyota Product Development System) that is shared with suppliers. Within this system, there is a function called target costing, which focuses on supplier and market information on decision-making rather than on the occurrence of costs. The purpose of this paper is to consider that the cost planning function in Toyota's product development is a key function in building Toyota's supply chain network, which is a hybrid organization that is neither in-housed nor marketized. To this end, we analyzed the qualitative comments in the survey of the research results conducted by the authors of this study and analyzed the functions of Toyota's target cost planning. Based on this, we attempted to explain that Toyota's target cost planning function is one of the keystone functions that builds an ecosystem with its suppliers.

Japanese cosmetics market has already matured. In order to ensure the growth, each company is reuqired to develop a new product in a new category and introduce it to the market as quickly as possible. In recent, many practitioners and academiciens have considered “sensibility-to-mind type packaging” as an effective method. The sensibilityto-mind type packaging method is based on the concept of “image-motif” referring to a concrete and symbolic theme. Specifically, image-motif expresses the goods’ concept visually, reflecting a specific good’s name, design, its feature, and so on. Thus, the sensibility-to-mind type packaging may evoke consumers’ attentions. Also, it will promote consumers’ memory, word-of-mouth communication, and trial. For example, consumers may recognize “face” as a metaphor for primary packages (e.g., skin care bottles). However, the sensibility-to-mind type packaging method is undeveloped research theme. In this paper we attempt to introduce the effectiveness of sensibility-tomind type packaging by providing evidence from Japanese cosmetics market.

The horizontal division of labor level of industries has advanced. Many Japanese
companies are struggling with the open and modular architecture product. Japanese companies are weak in open innovation, particularly the product domain of open modular architecture, compared to Chinese companies. Especially, the difference between Japanese and Chinese companies in open innovation might be due to cultural differences. The main purpose of this study is to explore whether and how national cultural factors influence open innovation by conducting case studies and statistical analysis. Our findings imply that cultural differences between Japan and China in building human relationships with foreigners (i.e., personal connection and facefilter) impact open innovation in the era of international horizontal division of labor.

For innovative technologies and products to emerge, we call on innovation dilemmas that neglecting the impact on the market and delaying to incorporate from dependence on existing products. These phenomena are reproduced by multi-agent simulation, and from the experimental results, they are suggested about strategic behavior to cope with the dilemma of innovation. To demonstrate the results from the data, a questionnaire survey was conducted on the dilemma of innovation in the Japanese textile industry, and covariance structure analysis was conducted. Fibers are thought to be a declining industry, but among them there are many companies that overcome and regenerate the dilemma. Among such industries, a statistically significant path analysis model could be presented for the cause of innovation. Network analysis is also conducted for the textile industry. The result also suggests suggestions on industrial clusters as a condition of industry to overcome the dilemma of innovation.
